Overview
HockeySub runs on your iPhone. The app has no sign-in, no ads and no analytics tools, and it does not send data to us. We have no servers that receive data from the app.
What the app stores on your phone
- Teams and players: team names, player names, optional jersey numbers, who the goalie is and who is present.
- Games: opponent, date, result, goals, playing time per player and who was on the ice and on the bench.
- Settings: game settings, age group, shift length and options such as sound and fair rotation.
The data is only used to show and calculate what you see in the app.
Permissions the app uses
- Notifications: only used to alert you on your phone when it is time to change lines. Notifications are created on your phone and are not sent through us.
- Live Activities: show the clock and the next change on the lock screen and in the Dynamic Island during a game.
The app does not use location, contacts, calendar, photos, camera, microphone or Bluetooth.
When you share something
Data only leaves your phone when you choose to share it, for example:
- a game report or season stats as a PDF
- a team file (.hockeysub) for an assistant coach, with the roster, archive and game settings
- a team you share with assistant coaches via iCloud (see below)
You choose the recipient and how to send it (AirDrop, Messages, email and similar). The terms of the service you use then apply. We cannot see what is shared.
Sharing a team via iCloud
If you choose Share link via iCloud for a team, the team is stored in your private iCloud with Apple (CloudKit), and the people who open the link you send get access to it. This includes:
- the team name and the order of the roster
- player names, jersey numbers and who is the goalie
- the team’s game archive
Attendance, playing time in a game in progress and game settings stay on the phone and are not shared. Teams you don’t share are never stored in iCloud.
The data is tied to your Apple ID and handled by Apple under Apple’s privacy policy. We have no access to it. You can see who has access and stop sharing at any time under Share with assistant coach. If you delete a team you own, it is deleted from iCloud, but your assistant coaches keep their copy on their phone.
Services from Apple
- Backup: if you use iCloud or computer backup, the app’s data may be included in the backup. It is handled by Apple.
- Purchases: HockeySub Pro is bought through Apple’s App Store, and we don’t receive any payment information.
- Crash reports: if you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in iOS Settings, Apple may give us anonymous crash reports. They are only used to fix bugs.
Links
The app links to official documents from the ice hockey federations (the Norwegian Ice Hockey Federation, the Swedish Ice Hockey Association, the IIHF and Hockey Canada). They open in your browser, and that website’s privacy rules then apply.
Children
The app is made for coaches, not for the children themselves. As a coach you enter the players’ names. Only enter what the team needs, such as first names, and follow your club’s privacy guidelines. None of this information is sent to us.
Storage and deletion
The data stays on your phone until you delete it. You can delete players, games and teams in the app. If you delete the app, all its data is removed from your phone.
Your rights
Since we have no access to your data, you are in full control: you can view, correct and delete everything in the app. If you have questions about privacy, please contact us.
Changes
If the app changes in a way that affects privacy, we will update this page and the date at the top.
